Helping Hand

Katharine Richt is going back to school.

Why? It's not about the money. Surely the Richt family has enough to get by on.

Self-actualization? No. That's not it either.

Turns out that she wants to become a nurse. Her family is supporting the effort, everyone pitching in, so that she can offer a helping hand to others.

Shout Out

to the readers and followers.

Thanks for being along for the ride.

Yatta

The guys over at Bounce Magazine did a nice job with this piece.

Although it's somewhat similar to an article I linked previously, and as the Bounce article indicates, their story was originally posted last year prior to the NBA draft-- there are a few nuances to the Bounce story that make it worth the fresh read, in my opinion.

Yatta.

Terrance Woodbury's Agent?

Interesting.

Hope it works out okay.

Rashaad Singleton Tries for NBA

Rashaad Singleton was in elite company earlier this month when he worked out for the NBA's New York Knicks. Singleton joined Stephen Curry, Duke guard Gerald Henderson, UCLA guard Jrue Holiday, and Ohio State's B.J. Mullens in the workouts.

Although Singleton was not drafted, he is working to follow his dream. Perhaps he can get a look with the D-League or an international squad.

Steve Newman Tears ACL

Steve Newman tore his ACL last week and he will be out for the rest of the season for the Bellingham Slam. Newman had been averaging 8 points and 5 rebounds for the Slam, a team in the International Basketball League.

I imagine that the injury will also impact Newman's return to the D-League when the season gets started again. As readers of the Blog know, Newman played last season for the Utah Flash and the Iowa Energy.

Tough break for Steve.

Desmond Oliver to Canisius

Former UGA assistant basketball coach Desmond Oliver will begin his new coaching duties on July 1. He was let go when current head coach Mark Fox was hired to replace Dennis Felton.

Oliver was hired on by Canisius, which gives Oliver a chance to continue his coaching career in his home town.

Congratulations and good luck, Coach Oliver!

Leaps like Me

Guy has serious "ups." Reminds me of the way I used to jump, back before the accident.

Even though Williams is short of stature, he has big-time athleticism. Should only improve with more strength and conditioning work. If he grows just a bit and adds some weight to his frame, he could do some real damage for Georgia.

Da'Rick Rogers' Commitment

Shown on Scout TV.

UGA is getting receivers. We'll need them. Brown, Wooten, Charles and crew will have to be ready to help out soon. We'll still be short-handed, so the signing by Rogers is a big deal.

Draft Express on Thompkins

Draft Express identifies a few areas for Thompkins to work on as he practices with the USA Under 19 Team.

Since he suffered consecutive injuries during the first part of his freshman year, Thompkins still has a ways to go in the area of strength and conditioning. The more coaching that he gets during this summer, the more effective he should be in the fall.

Hopefully Coach Fox can help Thompkins build upon his game so that he becomes a top performer in the SEC.

More on Marcus Washington

Fantastic Father's Day article.
